Every few days a new album joins the service with the oldest album cycling off. Albums last for one month.
Albums on the service are presented with rich-media articles written by respected music journalists or interviews and reflections from the artists themselves.
Our rotating model ensures that rightsholders share a larger pool of our royalties. We pay royalties on a fairer, user-centric basis. So if you only listen to one album this month, that album gets your full £4.99.
Cantilever is a curated streaming service for independent music. We feature a small number of excellent albums at a time, each paired with contextual articles or reflections from the artists themselves. Slow down, listen deeply, and discover music in context.
Every few days we add a new album and rotate one out. Each album stays for one month. This rotation keeps the catalogue focused, ensures fair royalties for artists, and gives you a steady flow of new albums to listen to.
We believe less is more. By focusing on a handful of albums, we can give them the attention they deserve and artists get a fairer share of royalties.
Tap the "About" section of the article to find links to their other music and releases.
In a way — when you favourite an album it will appear in your favourites area where you can read the attached article even when the album has cycled off the platform. However, once an album rotates off Cantilever, you won't be able to stream it here and the play controls will be greyed out, but the "About" section links to where you can listen elsewhere or buy a physical copy.
We partner with leading independent record labels and artists. We're based in London so many of our early partners are too. We're always open to new collaborations.
Cantilever is available on iOS and Android. A web and desktop app will be available soon.
We're currently available in the UK only, but we'll be expanding to other regions as soon as we can.
Both free reader and premium plans are available for Cantilever — you can't make changes to your plan or view prices in the app however. We know it's not ideal.
